COVER ARTIST GUIDELINES

New England Review began incorporating the work of contemporary artists on its cover in 2005. We are looking for striking artwork in any genre (painting, photo, etc.) that will reproduce well as cover art. We prefer abstraction over illustration. The cover will be in full-color, full bleed, with the magazine’s logo in overprint. The size of the cover is 9.75 by 6.75 inches, so the image may need to be adjusted to fit the trim size.

If your work is selected for use on our cover, we will ask you to sign a contract granting us one-time use of your image, with reproduction on our website. You will also need to provide a high-resolution scan of the artwork (300 dpi), at at least 10 by 7 inches, for print-quality reproduction. Your work will be credited on the back cover and copyright page of our journal, and we will pay an honorarium of $100.

Artists interested in being featured on our cover are encouraged to send digital images by email to nereview@middlebury.edu (subject line: Cover Art) or on a disk to Carolyn Kuebler, Managing Editor, New England Review, Middlebury College, Middlebury, VT 05753. Tiff or Photoshop files are preferred, but any format that can be opened on a Mac in Photoshop is acceptable.

Please include title, date, size, and materials used in the image. Feel free to provide any other information about your artwork.
